- Save Money by Spending a Little More on Selected Products - posted by Hottest Offers on Jun 13th 2010 11:25
It might sound strange but it’s true, occasionally in life it is better to pay that little extra for quality then to buy the cheapest item.  Let me break it down for you.

In the short run buying a cheaper item can keep the initial cost down but there are many instances where the cheaper product could break faster than a more expenses one.  Here are some examples of items that prove that paying that little extra could save you a massive amount.

Buying a car

A car is a machine that can potentially give us the freedom to travel anywhere in the world. Factors such as the age of the car or even down to the maker of the car can be the difference to a better quality product. Buying an older model may save you £100s in the short run but could cost you a bomb in maintenance further along the year. The aim of the game for this one is to do your research beforehand. Choose the right make, the right mileage, the right year of car and negotiate the price heavily. At the end of the day, cars do depreciate so you want to make sure when you are ready to upgrade your car you can sell it at a decent price.

Buying a Home
For bigger investments like this patience is the key. Buying a home is a long term investment and buying the wrong property could cost you thousands of pounds.  When buying a house ensure that it ticks all the boxes that you require – don’t settle for second best.  Is the property energy efficient, is it in the right location, is it a safe neighbourhood, could you really see yourself living there for the next 2-3 years. If the answer is yes then go for it. When you buy your property always make sure you have gone through the right measures of speaking to a qualified surveyor. They will conduct a detailed analysis on your property and the value of it in the market. Remember be patient and the right property will come to you.

Buying a computer

Investing in technology is good as long as it meets your specific need. When buying your next computer write down a list of things that you will need from the computer.  For example do you use your PC just to browse the internet or are you also a gamer. These two choices can make a huge difference between what you need to purchase and increase the cost dramatically, so the moral of this story is bundle packages may not always be the best investment for you. Choose a computer that meets your personal requirements.

Buying in bulk

Food is a necessary for all of us to survive but sometimes you may come across the perfect deal and decide to take it up.  Why not buy in bulk to make sure your investment is stretched in the long run. Buying in bulk doesn’t necessary mean you have to stick to food items this could be any product. If need be buy in bulk with friends and family so everyone benefits.

Buying warranty
This is a must if you have bought a high end product. Examples of this may be a washing machine, laptop, or even your boiler at home.  Warranties cover your product in the event that it breaks down or in some cases gets damaged through your own fault. Choosing the right plan is a must and always ensure that you read the small print.

I hope these points have illustrated that sometimes it does make sense to spend that little extra to save you money in the long run.

With Fabio Capello’s England team safely through to the second round of the World Cup, following a 1 nil win against Slovenia, our thoughts can return to Wimbledon. The SW19 tournament kicked off on Monday with Andy Murray flying the flag for the Brits.

Whether its strawberries and cream, Pimms, Cliff Richard singing in the rain or the fans on Henman Hill or Murrays Mound, the traditions of Wimbledon mean there isn’t another event like it in the sporting calendar.

Earlier This Week, Chancellor George Osborne announced brutal spending cuts and tax rises, to aid the UK’s economic recovery. Mr Osborne warned that years of financial mismanagement by the Labour government had made these measures necessary.

Amongst pay freezes for public sector workers and huge rises in capital gains tax, the Chancellor announced VAT would rise from 17.5% to 20% on January 4th 2011. The current rate of 17.5% has been in place since 1991, although this was reduc....

Girl s Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh has been busy promoting a Sky documentary about the history and evolution of jeans. The programme which aired on Monday followed the singer as she travelled across America and Europe meeting designers, visiting factories and denim fashion houses.

The most interesting thing about this programme was the segments on finding the perfect pair of jeans. Despite having a more sizeable budget than most, the pop star told TV presenters Holly and Phillip dur....

The housing market has battled its way through the recession from late 2008 up until early 2010. The market is still not on its way to prosperity but in the last few months we have seen an increase in houses being put up for sale.  No doubt one of the major reasons that the extra increase has come about is due to the removal of Home Information Pack (HIP) by the conservative government.
