Guess what there is loads of money that you can claim on in the UK but the trick is, knowing what available to you and how to go about getting that free money. Many of us know grants in association to students to help with education. But a grant is usually available to help make a purchase or to improve a certain situation. Below is a list of grants currently available to check out
Education
education is the place where most grants are available it doesn’t matter if your young or old as there are grants out there for all. If you are in full time education there is some financial support available. If you pay the full tuition fee of £3,225 then you will be eligible to apply for a maintenance grant. This grant is for those who are suffering from financial hardship. Your university will give you £319 bursary but in some cases you could be in a position of receiving more as £800 is actually available. I would recommend that anyone should try to apply for this grant as there are no special rules on what hardship actually is. You will of course need to supply proof that you have no money so be prepared to show at least three month worth of bank statements. All universities have a scholarship fund that encourages student to work that little bit harder. Most universities have at least twelve different scholarships available so if you’re planning on going to university for the next academic year or currently in university then find out what’s available and how you can work towards receiving this money.
Current students thinking about studying for part of their course abroad could do so through Erasmus scheme. It allow you to take part in one of the 30 European countries so essentially you get free money to travel and learn about a new culture while you’re there.
Over 16 learning Grants the governed also grants those who wish to continue their studies. You will need to be from a family who earns less than £32,300 a year but if successful you will receive a cheque of £30 a week throughout your academic year. For those over 19 who have not entered higher education before an Adult Learning Grant is available to encourage you to stay. Again you get paid £30 a week. You could also take advantage of the Assembly Learning Grant who may pay up to £1,500 for you to study. You should take note that not all college participate in these schemes so before applying find out the nearest educational institute that does. In addition your local council may offer an educational grant so find out from them if there is any scheme available whist applying.
Individuals
if you are over 25 weeks pregnant then you will be entitled to £190 from the Health in Pregnancy Grant. In addition to this you could be eligible for The Sure Start Maternity Grant. For those who have low income or have lost their jobs and have dependants under 18 the Save the Children charity have a few grants available that will give you money on a weekly basis. There is money that can help clothe your children for school and some extra money for milk and school dinners etc. If your family earns under £66,000 a year then there are some grants available to find out further details pop down to your local job centre to see what your council provides.

With Fabio Capello’s England team safely through to the second round of the World Cup, following a 1 nil win against Slovenia, our thoughts can return to Wimbledon. The SW19 tournament kicked off on Monday with Andy Murray flying the flag for the Brits.
Whether its strawberries and cream, Pimms, Cliff Richard singing in the rain or the fans on Henman Hill or Murrays Mound, the traditions of Wimbledon mean there isn’t another event like it in the sporting calendar.
Earlier This Week, Chancellor George Osborne announced brutal spending cuts and tax rises, to aid the UK’s economic recovery. Mr Osborne warned that years of financial mismanagement by the Labour government had made these measures necessary.
Amongst pay freezes for public sector workers and huge rises in capital gains tax, the Chancellor announced VAT would rise from 17.5% to 20% on January 4th 2011. The current rate of 17.5% has been in place since 1991, although this was reduc....
Girl s Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh has been busy promoting a Sky documentary about the history and evolution of jeans. The programme which aired on Monday followed the singer as she travelled across America and Europe meeting designers, visiting factories and denim fashion houses.
The most interesting thing about this programme was the segments on finding the perfect pair of jeans. Despite having a more sizeable budget than most, the pop star told TV presenters Holly and Phillip dur....
The housing market has battled its way through the recession from late 2008 up until early 2010. The market is still not on its way to prosperity but in the last few months we have seen an increase in houses being put up for sale. No doubt one of the major reasons that the extra increase has come about is due to the removal of Home Information Pack (HIP) by the conservative government.
