Looks like it’s that time of year again. You know, don’t you? Festival time. Everyone knows that when the summer hits and the sunshine spills over the country there is only one place where you should be at a festival, maximising life, losing yourself in the euphoria of the crowd and in the tunes that you have spent the last year listening to on your i-pod.
Festivals are great if you want to really let your hair down, meet exciting new people from all walks of life and dance till you drop then a festival is the place to be. There are a huge range of different events happening around the UK, so I have compiled information on a few to get you started on your festival planning.
Glastonbury - starts this Wednesday 24th June until Sunday 28th Jun 2009, it’s a five day event so staying for the whole show is not for the faint hearted. There will be hundreds of thousands of people attending this year, with musical acts from all over the world. If you have never been to Glastonbury then here are a few tips on what to expect from this awesome event,
This year the line-up of acts is incredible, here are a few - N*E*R*D, Lilly Allen, Fleet Foxes, Bloc Party, The Prodigy, Black Eye Peas, Jamie Callum, Cold War Kids and more.
At any festival you are going to constantly be in the midst of a huge number of people, but this is particularly true at Glastonbury. If you do not like to mingle and don’t count yourself as a particularly sociable person then Glastonbury probably isn’t for you.
The best way to survive Glastonbury is to stay away from trouble and to not get involved in any altercations. If it is inevitable that you must get involved then call the relevant authorities to ensure that the situation gets resolved as soon as possible. Once you get to Glastonbury there will be no reception, so if you can’t live without your beloved cellular friend then try replacing it with an older model just in case you misplace it. If you are going with a large group, then organise to meet your mates at a central place throughout the day.
Make sure you become friendly with your neighbors’ as you will be camping out together for the remaining five days Becoming buddies and keeping them happy will benefit you as you will be able to ask them for favours such as looking after your tent and gear whilst you go to the toilet, etc. Remember there are limited numbers of toilets, so be prepared to get down and dirty and pack a lot of clean underwear. Take your wellington boots and outdoor dry protective clothing as the weatherman says it might rain which means mud and lots and lots of fun!
