- Keep Clothes for Life or Make Some Money out of Them - posted by Hottest Offers on Jun 2nd 2009 23:18
So over the weekend the sun was out, the birds were chirping and I decided to do the summer clean starting with the washing pile. Now I would class myself as a domestic goddess but once in a while even the most experienced home-maker can make major mistakes. Number one rule never mix colours with whites. But what happens when that sneaky coloured piece of clothing is hiding under the pile??? The guilt I felt when the clothes came out was unbearable as I had just turned my husband’s white shirts pink. I wouldn’t mind so much if they were my clothes ruined but would my partner feel the same now that his designer clothes were baby pink? I couldn’t see it happening so plan B had to be executed fast. If you want to save money and get your clothes looking good again try some good old bleach in boiling water. Dependant on the stain you should be able to lighten the colour. Once done try buying a product called Colour Run Remover by Carbona. Follow the instructions and put your load back in the wash. Make sure to add a Colour Whitener to your washing as this helps to get those colours back to normal in a flash. Alternately if the above doesn’t work for your load then try dying your beloved clothes in a different darker colour. Dying it gives your clothes a new sense of life and you will be amazed at the amount of people who actually think it’s a new top you’re sporting. So having this little mishap happen to me I thought i would have a good tidy of all the unworn clothes/ old bags and shoes that were pushed to the back of my cupboard collecting dust. I think it’s a great thing to recycle old clothes and give them to a charitable organisation. Apparently 97% of used clothing is actually still recyclable so even if you have the oldest torn up shirt don’t chuck it away but head down to your local charity shop and spread the love. If your one of those people who think charity starts at home then have a think about selling some of the items that you think maybe a worth a bob or two. After my incident with the washing machine I decided to try selling one of my old bags on eBay. Within the first two days I had 4 watchers and with 5 days it was sold for £30 what a bargain!!!! Now imagine what else I could sell in the pile of clothes that are eBay maybes. Moral of the story is that what you think is complete rubbish; another person might adore. So don’t throw anything away until you realise its second hand value.
With Fabio Capello’s England team safely through to the second round of the World Cup, following a 1 nil win against Slovenia, our thoughts can return to Wimbledon. The SW19 tournament kicked off on Monday with Andy Murray flying the flag for the Brits.
Whether its strawberries and cream, Pimms, Cliff Richard singing in the rain or the fans on Henman Hill or Murrays Mound, the traditions of Wimbledon mean there isn’t another event like it in the sporting calendar.
Earlier This Week, Chancellor George Osborne announced brutal spending cuts and tax rises, to aid the UK’s economic recovery. Mr Osborne warned that years of financial mismanagement by the Labour government had made these measures necessary.
Amongst pay freezes for public sector workers and huge rises in capital gains tax, the Chancellor announced VAT would rise from 17.5% to 20% on January 4th 2011. The current rate of 17.5% has been in place since 1991, although this was reduc....
Girl s Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh has been busy promoting a Sky documentary about the history and evolution of jeans. The programme which aired on Monday followed the singer as she travelled across America and Europe meeting designers, visiting factories and denim fashion houses.
The most interesting thing about this programme was the segments on finding the perfect pair of jeans. Despite having a more sizeable budget than most, the pop star told TV presenters Holly and Phillip dur....
The housing market has battled its way through the recession from late 2008 up until early 2010. The market is still not on its way to prosperity but in the last few months we have seen an increase in houses being put up for sale. No doubt one of the major reasons that the extra increase has come about is due to the removal of Home Information Pack (HIP) by the conservative government.
